Therapist Website Feature: Rocca Family Therapy

Lise McMillan, MMFT is a Marriage and Family Therapist, practicing in Steinbach, Manitoba, Canada, where she works with individuals, couples, and families.

Lise customized the Bridge Squarespace template on her own to create a truly unique website for her private practice. I personally love how Lise incorporated artistic brush strokes, small nature-inspired details, and an earthy color palette to create a virtual space that feels like a weekend getaway to a cozy cabin in the woods!

Read on to learn more about Lise’s work as a therapist, why she was drawn to the Bridge website, and how using a Hold Space Creative Squarespace template helped her move through website overwhelm.

Where in the world are you located? Steinbach, Manitoba, Canada

What do you love about the work that you do? I love witnessing a person’s journey inward as they build compassion for their emotions and an understanding of how to receive messages from their emotions to help guide them. The stories of human resilience always move me, and finding my part in guiding someone to see their own strength and resilience is incredibly rewarding for me. I especially love working with couples to find this together.

Which Hold Space Creative template did you purchase? Bridge Template

Why did you choose this template? I had been taking my time to research and look at therapist websites in my own province and was trying to decide what my style should be. I wanted a design that I felt was a reflection of me, and also offered something different than what I was already seeing out there. It was when I saw the Bridge template modified by Julie Ciecior that I immediately knew I could make this design my own. I think I bought the template the next day after reading the Therapist Website Feature! I felt confident that I could mold the site into something I loved, but also confident that if I didn’t change a single element of the design I would still love my site.

What prompted you to choose my templates over others? I chose a site by Monica because I was drawn to her artistic side and how that merged with her understanding of therapists needs. My first career was in the arts and as a new MMFT opening my private practice, I know I need the guidance of those who have more experience than me, I felt I was getting the guidance I wanted and needed with Monica’s template, tutorials, and copywriting templates.

How did you feel about your previous website or the website building process before purchasing a template from Hold Space Creative? This is my first website as a therapist. I had built a website on Squarespace about 8 years ago and wasn’t sure I was up for doing it again, but the process is so much more intuitive now and with the tutorials from Monica it was really simple.

How do you feel now that you've published your new website? I feel a huge sense of relief! I’m also comforted by the idea that I can log into Squarespace anytime to make my own edits and develop the site as I grow and learn more about what I need and what my potential clients need from the site.

How would you describe the process of using a Hold Space Creative template (from purchase to publish)? I will be honest and admit that right after buying the template, I felt overwhelmed with where to start and how to write website copy that was truly a representation of me. I was putting a lot of pressure on myself. Then I sat down one night and watched all the video tutorials in one go. I was instantly inspired and motivated. I decided I needed to get a simple website published as a starting point so I could start some marketing to build up my number of clients. The site is doing just that, and I’m planning to take the next few months to redevelop the copy to include more personal story in the About me sections, and also to create a page for each service. I’m allowing the site to grow with my practice and that feels right to me.

What do you hope your new website does for you and your private practice? I hope that the site is another way for potential clients to get a feel for me and if we might fit well together as therapist and client. If a client sees the site and my photos and knows instantly that I am not a right fit for them, then it serves both of us as it saves me time on emails and consultations with potential clients. On the other hand, I’ve already had clients reach out to me and say it was because of what they read or saw on my site that they just knew I was the therapist they were wanting. Both cases save me precious admin time as a private practice owner.

Is there anything else you'd like to add? That Monica and her team are so approachable and responsive. With HoldSpace Creative I felt like I could call and talk to a real person if need be. It felt very supportive.
